ComfortDelGro Australia Increases Presence in Regional NT

ComfortDelGro Corporation Australia (CDC) has increased its commitment to serving regional Australia with the purchase of the assets of a school bus business from KA & VK Stubbs Pty Ltd, comprising five buses and a Rural and Regional Bus Service Contract of three school routes in Narrabri, New South Wales.

From October, CDC will combine the Stubbs contract with its existing operations, bringing the fleet to a total of 21 buses in Narrabri and Wee Waa.

ComfortDelGro Australia’s Regional Australia Division CEO, Tony Hopkins, said that he is pleased to be increasing CDC’s service commitment to the region.

“Since we entered the Australian market in 2005, we have shown our dedication to linking people, places and communities in both regional and metropolitan Australia through our bus services,” Mr Hopkins said.

“The contract acquisition is a small but meaningful addition to our operations which will strengthen the quality of services that we can deliver in regional Australia and to the communities in Narrabri and Wee Waa.”

“CDC’s increased presence in the region will mean that more customers are benefitting from the experience and resources of one of Australia’s largest bus operators.

“As shown in our existing bus regions around Australia, CDC ownership opens the way for a rollout of advanced on-board technologies which provide an improved customer experience and higher levels of safety.

“We are also focused on working well with groups in the community – as seen in our involvement with sleepbus and Kinchela Boys Home Aboriginal Corporation – and providing meaningful employment opportunities in the communities in which we operate,” he said.

The acquisition of the contract brings the total bus fleet size in regional New South Wales to more than 275 buses, with the total number of buses operated in Australia increasing close to 2500.

CDC currently operates in six states and territories in Australia: New South Wales, Victoria, the Australia Capital Territory, Queensland, the Northern Territory and Western Australia.
